Looking for Blog Authors

Here are the guidelines to post on our blog.

Guidelines for Guest Blog Authors           

Thank you for your interest in being a guest author for the NOFJC Blog, The Purple Window.

Please read the guidelines below and submission guidelines.

1.       Please keep your post to between 800-1500 words if you are submitting a story.

2.       If you are submitting poetry, submit it in full and if you would like to submit multiple poems that is fine. If the poem is by someone other than you please include the name of the poet. If it is by you, include your name only if you are comfortable doing so.

3.       You can submit artwork if you like. Please include the size of the piece, the name of the piece if it has one and what you used – acrylics, colored pencil, etc. Your name, but only if you are comfortable with that.  Send this in PDF or JPG format only.  If you are an artist with a website or Facebook page we can include that in the post.

4.       Submissions for stories or poetry should be sent in a word document. Do not save as PDF or other type of file due to the editing process.

5.       Submissions will be edited and sent back to you for correction. It will be your responsibility to correct your copy and return by the deadline.

6.       There will be a theme for each month  - however -  If you would rather write on something else just ask - It’s likely just fine to pick that topic.

7.       Have some fun. Your piece can be a short story, poetry, personal story, maybe you read a really great book you want to review.

8.       Please be kind – no profanity, racial slurs, religious or political put downs, or other language that would hurt, humiliate, embarrass or intimidate any reader.

9.       This is not a political platform. Political discussion or commentary posts will not be published.

10.   If there are multiple submissions for a month – we’ll make a decision about which one to use and the others will be used in the next month(s).

Blogs post the middle of each month – you must submit your work by the first of each month to be considered for that month’s post.  Submit to palbers@nofjc.org
